His expertise in legal matters, policy development, and international cooperation has significantly influenced global governance. Mr. Suresh Sharma is at the forefront of fostering international collaborations and strategic alliances. His role involves navigating complex global markets and establishing partnerships that drive innovation and growth.
Mr. Sharma’s expertise in international Collaborations and Strategic Alliances is exemplified by his representation of Tower Semiconductor from Israel. He is instrumental in Tower’s plan of establishing a semiconductor chip fabrication unit in India, a project valued at approximately $8 billion USD. This initiative is poised to significantly bolster India’s ambitions in semiconductor manufacturing, aligning with the government’s vision to become a hub for electronics and semiconductor production.
In addition to his work with Tower Semiconductor, Mr. Sharma also represents SOLIS-IDC, a South Korean technology firm planning to invest $2 billion in setting up state-of-the-art data centres in India. This venture is expected to enhance India’s digital infrastructure and cater to the increasing demand for data storage and processing capabilities across various sectors, including e-commerce, cloud computing, and fintech.
Mr. Sharma’s leadership in these high-stakes projects demonstrates his capacity to handle intricate negotiations and his commitment to advancing India’s technological infrastructure on the global stage. His efforts are not only pivotal in driving economic growth but also in positioning India as a key player in the international technology sector.
Beginning his career at the Supreme Court of India, Mr. Sharma honed his skills in Indian law, focusing on justice, equity, and constitutional interpretation. His journey saw him as a senior consultant for India’s ministries of Home and Finance, where his research and policy insights proved vital in guiding government decisions.
As a legal expert, Mr. Sharma’s versatility is evident in his ability to evaluate policies, draft analyses, and provide recommendations that ensure legal robustness in both domestic and international contexts. His deep understanding of international investment law aids governments, businesses, and investors in navigating complex legal frameworks for cross-border transactions.
Beyond the legal domain, Mr. Sharma engages with free trade and special economic zones, applying his knowledge of economics to inform policies that promote growth and sustainable development. His environmental law expertise includes ecotourism, eco-development, wildlife conservation, and the management of national parks, contributing to global natural resource management.
Sharma's involvement includes leading partnerships for a major semiconductor fabrication project in Odisha, India. GFPS, under his presidency, partnered with SRAM & MRAM to select a technical partner (with negotiations involving firms from Israel and Japan) for establishing a state-of-the-art fab unit in Ganjam district. This project, led by SRAM & MRAM's Indian arm (SRAM & MRAM Technologies and Projects India), involves an initial investment of Rs 30,000 crore (about $3.6 billion USD) in the first phase, scaling up to an overall value of Rs 2 lakh crore (about $24 billion USD), following an MoU with the Odisha government. This initiative aims to boost India's semiconductor manufacturing capabilities, particularly in memory chips for electronic devices.
In advisory capacities, Mr. Sharma has influenced key decisions as an advisor to the Chairman of the Tourism Finance Corporation of India (TFCI) and the Unit Trust of India. He has also been instrumental in organizing significant events like the International Conference of Jurists in London and GFPS’s annual conference on Sustainable Development and Climate Change in Geneva.
Mr. Sharma’s diverse contributions highlight his crucial role in policy shaping, international collaboration, and championing sustainable progress. His impact extends well beyond Geneva, leaving a lasting legacy on the global stage.
